Dear Foothill Knolls Families,

Michelle Wavering Cropped.jpgWelcome to the 2017/2018 school year! We promoted our first group of 8th graders last year.  It was quite an event filled with many wonderful memories.  As we begin our third year as a STEM school, we continue to refine and expand upon our Project Based Learning in STEM.  Foothill Knolls has several new teachers this year. Please welcome Mrs. Gospojevic joining our kindergarten team, Mrs. Delany and Ms. Martinez joining our 2nd-grade team, Ms. Pfannenstiel joining our 4th-grade team, Mr. Goehring joining our 5th-grade team, and Mrs. Weiss joining our 7th-grade team.  We continue to add to our middle school engineering offerings and will also be implementing AVID Elementary in grades 3-5 this year which focuses on promoting college readiness.  All that we implement and do is to support our mission statement, vision statement, and 3-year plan.

Your involvement in school activities is an integral part of the total school program at Foothill Knolls.  Our PTA is committed to building community spirit and providing additional resources to the classroom.  Volunteering in various areas allows you to become an active participant in your child’s education. I invite each and every parent to join PTA to help support their efforts on our campus. Through partial support from PTA, Foothill Knolls is pleased once again to have Mr. Mann provide a choral music program elementary students.  Our middle school students will have access to an after school choral music program two days a week.

It is important for there to be a shared partnership between school and home.  We are here to answer any questions or concerns you might have regarding your child’s educational program.  Last year we launched a Watchdog Dads program on our campus.  We will continue to expand on this program this year.  Students love seeing our male family members helping around campus. Our plans to communicate with you include the Foothill Knolls marquee, our phone messaging system, the Foothill Knolls website, Back-to-School Night, and parent teacher conferences. Please check out our Google calendar embedded on this site that you can subscribe to getting instant updates when a new event is added. We also use social media, such as Twitter, to keep you updated on student projects on campus. You can view our Twitter feed from our homepage.

In closing, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2017-2018 school year to all of our new and returning families.  I look forward to hearing about your fun-filled summer vacations and supporting your student as they grow and learn this year. Together we will provide students with a strong educational program, a strong sense of community, and fun-filled, exciting school year.
